2017’s Must Read Marketing Strategy Books

It seems that it gets more difficult to stand out from the crowd each and every day. That’s why you need to be sure and have a marketing strategy that will help set your business apart from the rest.

I’ve put together a list of books that I personally have found very useful. No matter how much I learn about marketing, I discover that there is always more to know. It seems like it should be a lot more simple than it is, but that’s not the case.

I’ve also found that each time I read a new book on marketing strategy, even if most of what I read isn’t completely new to me, I always seem to pick up a few golden nuggets that help me fill in the gaps.

While some principles of marketing never change because humans don’t chance at their core, and let’s face it you are marketing to human beings, the way you need to deliver your message does change, and in today’s world, it changes very quickly. All of these books were published in 2017, so you can rest assured they have current, relevant content.

You’ll find help with:

  • Social media marketing
  • Brand development
  • Digital marketing
  • Networking

…and more.

Marketing Strategy Books for 2017

So, let’s get to the books…

1.Brand Identity Breakthrough: How to Craft Your Company’s Unique Story to Make Your Products Irresistible

When you think of branding you may picture giant corporations with multi-million dollar budgets, but even small businesses need to develop their brand. I know I did.

I always figured that I’d never been some huge company like Apple or Coke, so why did I need to brand my business when no one was ever going to really know who I am?

Boy, was I wrong!

As this book points out, your business has a story to tell, and it is unique to your company. By sharing your story, you build your brand identity, and in doing so, you stand out from the crowd.

This book will teach you how to use storytelling to help sell your services and products both online and on Main Street.

In addition, you’ll learn how to insert your unique selling proposition into all of your branding as well as what the best methods are to sell your products.

I’ve taken what I learned from this book and am applying it to all of my marketing efforts, from Pinterest to my email list. Have you ever noticed that there are some pinners on Pinterest that you recognize immediately when you see one of their pins?

It’s not their name. It’s their branding. This book will help you with that.

You can check it out on Amazon.

2. The Lead Machine: The Small Business Guide to Digital Marketing

One issue most businesses have, no matter how long they have been in business, is getting traffic from Google. Google can be a difficult nut to crack, but once you do, it’s like opening the floodgates.

I found this book to be easy to read and understand. It gives you the basics on lots of different digital marketing strategies including Google, Facebook, podcasts, Twitter, and building an email list.

What I really liked is that you can find all the information you need about digital marketing in one place. Too often, if you’re like me, you spend hours and hours hunting down information all over the web.

This book will save you a great deal of time and effort.

Also, I think you’ll find this book is best suited for the small or medium sized business. Chances are if you own a larger company, this isn’t the book for you.

See it here on Amazon.

3. Go for No! for Network Marketing

I have to admit that I am not the most extroverted person in the world. I’m much more comfortable sitting in my office and talking to people through a laptop than getting out there face-to-face.

I think a lot of it has to do with a fear of rejection. Somehow when someone says no – even a stranger – it hurts just enough that I’d rather avoid it at all costs.

Maybe you’re the same way…

The truth is, however, if you want to succeed in business, you have to be prepared for a few…okay make that a lot…of no’s.

What I like about this book is that it deals with ways to handle no’s. What I like even more are the 17 stories from business leaders that are truly inspiring.

I think, as business owners, we need to hear the good and the bad, and there’s no one better to hear it from than someone that has been there and come out the other side.

You’ll also find a 10-point plan that will help you put the ideas you find in the book into action which is great.

You can check out the book on Amazon.

4. A Brand New Brand – A Guided Workbook to Kick Start Your New Business

It’s funny. When you start a new business everything is exciting. You get to design your website, set up your office, order business cards, and officially hang out your shingle to let the world know you are in business.

And then….you wait.

And sometimes, nothing happens. There’s nothing worse than having no customers, no social media engagement, no website views, and no money coming in.

Trust me, I’ve been there. It can be depressing and overwhelming, and downright frustrating. All that hard work and nothing to show for it.

That’s why I like this book. It’s like having a business coach step into your place of business and guide you from where you are to where you want to be…a successful business.

This is not a book for the business that is already up and running and seeing a great deal of success. Instead, this book is for the business owner still in the planning stages or someone who is just opening their doors.

The book provides help and tips on the basics of budgeting, branding, social media marketing, marketing strategy and a whole lot more.

If you’re feeling frustrated or just aren’t sure what to do next when it comes to marketing your business, you might want to check it out.

You can find it on Amazon here.

Developing a marketing strategy for your business is really pretty simple when you have the right tools to help guide you. These four new books are certainly a step in the right direction. Hey, it’s better than banging your head against the wall and getting nowhere.
